The Incredible Life of Antoni Gaudí

Whenever I travel, I always try to learn more about the place I am in. Barcelona takes pride in its beautiful architecture, so I was eager to learn more about it. Antoni Gaudí created magnificent buildings in Barcelona and is internationally known for his work.

La Sagrada Familia

La Sagrada Familia is one of the most famous pieces of architecture in Barcelona. It was Gaudí’s idea and design and is still being constructed to this day. It is truly magnificent.

My family and I visited La Sagrada Familia during our Fat Tire Bike Tour. We have taken Fat Tire Bike Tours before and have loved every one of them. This particular tour was a perfect way to see the city while learning about Gaudí’s life.

We were taken on a route that went to different buildings created by Gaudí, starting with his first creation (two lamp posts in a city square) and ending with his final creation, La Sagrada Familia.

The tour included tickets to get into the church. There were many people visiting the church, so it was great to not stress about getting tickets and getting in. The church is absolutely stunning and is a must-see, but do be aware that there will probably be a lot of people visiting the church, so get ready for crowds and a bit of chaos.

We also went to Park Güell, which was also designed by Gaudí. It truly felt like I was in a fairytale. The architecture is whimsical and beautiful. The rock architecture is something I have never seen before and the park is filled with beautiful colors due to buildings and benches being covered in ceramic shards. I felt like I was in a scene from Shrek and was at the Gingerbread Man’s house.

If you want to go to Park Güell, I highly recommend getting tickets to the restricted area. This is where all of the mosaic tile designs are. Book your tickets in advance! The tickets sell out very fast and may be sold out weeks in advance.

The life of Gaudí is very interesting. I highly recommend learning more about him and his architecture, and if you visit Barcelona, make sure to check out the architecture in real life. It is incredible.
